Perc\u00e9-Verre<\/strong> is a Qu\u00e9bec glass art studio founded by St\u00e9phanie B\u00e9land<\/strong>, a Qu\u00e9bec glass artist guided by color, joy, and perseverance.
Specializing in fused glass art<\/strong>, she creates handcrafted jewelry<\/strong>, tableware<\/strong>, and decorative glass pieces<\/strong> \u2014 each one a small burst of life and light, made with care in Qu\u00e9bec.<\/p>\n

In her studio, the glass is cold worked, then gently fused \u2014 a meticulous process where matter transforms into emotion.
As St\u00e9phanie likes to say: \u201cWhen there\u2019s passion, patience comes naturally.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

My Story \u2014 A Journey of Resilience<\/h2>\n

Before working with glass, I spent thirty years making people laugh as a professional clown.
My world was already filled with colour, light, and the joy of touching people\u2019s hearts. Storytelling, laughter, emotion \u2014 that\u2019s how I brought a little magic into everyday life.<\/p>\n

Then, in the middle of cancer treatments, life offered me a new language.
One evening, a friend showed me a bracelet she had made out of fused glass. It was love at first sight. The transparency, the brilliance, the softness of the material\u2026 it all fascinated me. I knew this was how I could keep sharing light and emotion, in a different way.<\/p>\n

Between treatments, I set up a small kiln and began exploring glass \u2014 like learning a new stage, a new rhythm. I found creativity again, and joy, and the thrill of seeing colour come alive.<\/p>\n

That\u2019s how Perc\u00e9-Verre<\/strong> was born, in 2016.
\u201cPerc\u00e9\u201d stands for perseverance and the light that shines through challenges. \u201cVerre\u201d \u2014 glass \u2014 for its delicacy, its strength, and its quiet transparency, much like life itself.<\/p>\n

The Fused Glass Technique<\/h2>\n

Working with glass holds a certain mystery.
Each piece is born from layers of color and light that slowly come together. During the process of assembling and firing, the shapes and hues reveal themselves \u2014 like a secret that takes its time to be known.<\/p>\n

Fused glass allows me to create jewelry and art pieces entirely from glass \u2014 no soldering, just pure union \u2014 for a clean, refined finish. Here\u2019s how the magic unfolds.<\/p>\n

Preparation<\/h3>\n

It all begins with the glass itself \u2014 sheets, fragments, or granules \u2014 carefully chosen for their colors and textures. I layer and compose them as one might paint with transparency.
With a workshop equipped with state-of-the-art tools, including a water-jet cutter, I can shape the glass with remarkable precision before firing. This opens up endless creative possibilities.<\/p>\n

Firing and Cooling<\/h3>\n

Then comes the fusion: the glass is placed in the kiln to melt and unite. Each firing lasts between 18 and 24 hours, sometimes more, and some pieces require up to five cycles to reach their perfect depth and texture.
The drilling, done with the water-jet before firing, ensures a flawless finish \u2014 no polishing needed, as the heat itself performs the transformation. The glass is then allowed to rest and cool slowly for many hours before revealing its glow.<\/p>\n

Finishing<\/h3>\n

Once solidified, each piece is assembled gently, true to its own character and rhythm.<\/p>\n

Creating fused glass is a dialogue between matter and light \u2014 a balance between the precision of the hand and the patience of the heart.

The fused glass technique<\/h2>\n

Glassmaking has its share of mystery. It’s during the assembly of the different layers that the shapes and colors reveal themselves! Fusion creates a jewel or object from scratch, without soldering, for a refined finish. Here are the main stages in the production process.<\/p>\n

Preparation<\/strong>
Select glass according to the desired colors (sheets, crushed blocks or granules), then assemble the pieces in overlapping layers to create special patterns.<\/p>\n

Firing and cooling<\/strong>
Furnace glass until melting point is reached. Each firing takes from 18 to 24 hours, and sometimes up to 5 firings are required to create a piece. Leave to cool for 10 to 12 hours.<\/p>\n

Finishing<\/strong>
Drill the part as required (for jewelry) and assemble the final product.<\/p>\n

Working with fused glass requires a great deal of skill, patience and time. But it’s all worth it when the magic of the glass is revealed at the very end!<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>
