Every December, as the holiday season approaches, the Palais des congrès de Montréal plays host to the crème de la crème of Quebec’s fine crafts. For over 60 years, the Salon des métiers d’art du Québec (SMAQ), orchestrated by the Conseil des métiers d’art du Québec, has brought together nearly 200 carefully selected artisans – ceramists, cabinetmakers, jewelers, leatherworkers, glassmakers, cutlers and many others – from all over Quebec and Canada.

The SMAQ is the only show of its kind entirely dedicated to the professional arts and crafts recognized in Quebec. Each piece presented here is the fruit of rigorous know-how, crafted in the workshop with passion, patience and exacting standards. There’s no mass production here: people come to discover long-lasting, inspired and meaningful works, to give as gifts… or to treat themselves.
